What’s Coming from Premera Individual in 2026
Our 2026 individual and family plans and rates have been filed with the Alaska Division of Insurance (DOI). Here’s a preview of what’s coming from Premera Blue Cross Blue Shield of Alaska next year.
Please note, plan and rate information isn’t final until approved by the DOI.
Rates
Exciting news—we’ve filed for a 3.4% rate decrease in 2026!
“We know health care is expensive in Alaska,” said Justin Cusber, Individual Markets Business Manager. “Premera is committed to implementing effective strategies that help make health coverage more affordable our for members.”
Plans
We’re pleased to announce that all Preferred, Alaska One, and Standard plans will renew in 2026.
There will be changes to our dental benefits. Adult dental benefits will not be included in any of our plan options next year. We’re making this change to keep rates as affordable as possible for members. Instead, we’ll be offering a separate family dental plan.
Dental benefits
Pediatric dental benefits will remain embedded in our plans, covering a range of preventive, diagnostic, basic, and major dental services.
Our new well-priced family dental plan is a separate dental plan that can be purchased on its own for members living in 20 boroughs: Anchorage, Bethel, Chugach, Denali, Dillingham, Fairbanks North Star, Haines, Juneau, Kenai Peninsula, Ketchikan Gateway, Kodiak Island, Kusilvak, Matanuska-Susitna, Northwest Arctic, Petersburg, Prince of Wales-Hyder, Sitka, Skagway, Wrangell, Yakutat. Unfortunately, we can’t offer it statewide due to network adequacy requirements. Members don’t need a Premera medical plan to purchase dental.
Network
Your clients will continue to have access to providers in the Legacy and Dental Select network for medical and dental services. Our network remains one of the largest networks in Alaska, with many behavioral health, alternative care, and specialty providers.
Commission
We’ll continue to pay $20 per member per month.
