Premera Health Plans and Vaccines

Premera Blue Cross Blue Shield of Alaska health plans generally cover vaccinations, including COVID vaccinations, as a standard part of preventive care benefits. We’re reaffirming our position to continue to cover these vaccines at no cost to our members.

Premera health plans include Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP) recommended vaccines without cost sharing, in line with federal requirements as part of the Affordable Care Act (ACA) and the Inflation Reduction Act. Members should consult with their providers when deciding about vaccinations.

We’ll continue to adhere to evidence-based medicine guidelines, review federal and state guidelines, and follow the recommendations of professional societies on vaccines. Additionally, we look forward to the recommendations from the West Coast Health Alliance.
