Matchmaker for Behavioral Health Simplifies Access to Care
Seeking mental health support can feel overwhelming, but Premera Blue Cross Blue Shield of Alaska is making it simpler with Matchmaker™ for Behavioral Health. This new benefit helps your individual plan clients match with the right provider based on their unique needs.
How does it work?
If your client is ready to find a behavioral health provider and would like support, they can call Premera customer service and ask for help. The customer service representative will complete a member intake over the phone. The Matchmaker team will then curate a list of in-network providers and deliver to your client in three to four business days. Only providers accepting new patients are listed.
What criteria can my clients specify?
Clients can specify their primary concerns and needs, the services they’re requesting, and personal preferences including in-person or virtual appointments, language spoken, gender, and more.
What services are excluded?
Matchmaker does not handle requests for the following services:
- ABA Therapy
- Bio/Neuro Feedback
- Brain Mapping
- Group Therapy
- Higher Levels of Care: Inpatient, Intensive Outpatient (IOP), Partial Hospitalization (PHP), or Residential Treatment Centers (RTC)
- Ketamine therapy
- Neuropsychology
- Patients age four or younger
When is it available?
Matchmaker became available for individual plan members April 7, 2025.
How will my client receive their list?
The list will come from customercare@premera.com.
