Looking Back at 2024 and What We’ve Accomplished
As this year comes to a close, we’d like to share some of the significant and exciting numbers of 2024. Four years after the start of the pandemic, we continue to focus on strengthening access to quality healthcare for all communities across Washington and Alaska.
Since 2017, Premera has invested more than $100 million into the communities we serve thanks to a once-in-a-lifetime tax refund. This allowed us to elevate our community giving in ways we had only dreamed about. Because of this, we’ve been able to invest in more than 275 organizations in Washington and Alaska and funded over 400 grants.
We listened to our community partners and focused our giving where they needed the most support: improving access to healthcare in rural and remote areas, enhancing behavioral health services across the region, and addressing health inequities in historically underserved communities. We want these investments to have generational impacts–improving lives now and for years to come. You can see some of the results of our investments in 2024.
Healthcare must evolve. Premera’s people are passionate about making healthcare work better, particularly around addressing health inequities and improving access to affordable, quality care. We’re proud of the work we’ve done to care for our members throughout their healthcare journey. This year, we greatly expanded the number of in-network behavioral health providers, hired more care managers to help our members navigate their healthcare, and supported more members who are managing chronic illnesses like diabetes and hypertension.
We’ve been around for 90 years, we see the areas where healthcare has room to improve, and we’re committed to finding even more ways to support change.
These are sustainable solutions that help people overcome barriers to getting the care they need and the care they deserve. You can learn more about our community support at premerawellbeyond.org.
