Helping New Members Make Their First Payment
To activate their 2026 coverage, your new clients need to pay their first monthly bill. Share these payment options and tips to make it easy.
Member ID Numbers
New members need their member ID to pay. They can find their member ID on their mailed invoice or get it by calling customer service at 800-809-936.
Tip: Customer service wait times may be longer in January.
Best Ways to Pay
Online
New members need to create an account to pay online. After setup, they can make a one-time payment. The payment will post to their account in 24 hours.
Tip: Let your clients know to skip automatic payments for their first bill. It may process too late and they could risk coverage cancellation before it begins.
Phone
Call our automated payment system at 888-874-4178 to pay by phone. New members will need to have their member ID and payment method ready. Payment posts to their account within 24 hours.

Checks should be payable to PBCBS AK Member Premiums, with the member ID written on the check.
Tip: Mail is slower than online or phone payments.
Bank Bill Pay
Bank bill pay is possible but not recommended. New members can pay through their bank’s online bill pay using their subscriber ID. Select Premera Blue Cross Blue Shield of Alaska and enter this exact address when prompted:

Tip: Remind your clients that bank bill pay is not the same as autopay. Premera cannot talk to your bank or alter payment amounts to reflect changes throughout the year. If their payment doesn’t cover the full premium, their plan could be canceled.
