Newly Created Premera Accounts to Default to Electronic EOB

Starting May 10, Premera Blue Cross Blue Shield of Alaska and Premera Blue Cross Blue Shield of Alaska Medicare Supplement members creating new web accounts will default to electronic Explanation of Benefits (EOB).

Why it matters:

• Convenience: Electronic EOBs provide a faster and more efficient way to access benefit information. Members will always have a digital copy available.
• Environmentally Friendly: Reducing paper usage helps us contribute to a greener planet.
• Enhanced Web Experience: Members receiving electronic EOBs will enjoy several new features on our website.

New features include:

• New “Not Ready Yet” Status: This status will inform members that their EOB is in process and will be available soon, reducing confusion and improving satisfaction.
• Web UI Update: The user interface for viewing and downloading electronic EOBs will be more convenient, offering a smoother and more intuitive experience.
• Informative Info Bubble: A new info bubble will direct members to a detailed page explaining EOBs, helping them understand their benefits better.
• Clearer Paperless Settings: Members will find it easier to manage their paperless settings, ensuring they can opt for digital communications with ease.

Opt-out option: Members always have the option to opt out of electronic EOBs in their account settings if they prefer to receive paper statements.
